HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
The Dauphin County Department of Solid Waste Management and Recycling provides a free, once-a-year, collection of household hazardous waste for each household within the County. Residents can dispose of:
- Automobile Fluids
- Cleaning Solutions
- Lighter Fluid
- Pool Chemicals
- Other chemicals as may be accepted by the Collection Program
Dauphin County has contracted with Curbside, Inc. to collect household hazardous waste. To schedule collection of any of the above referenced materials call Curbside Inc. at (800) 449-7587. For additional information contact Dauphin County at 982-6772.
OUTDOOR BURNING IS PROHIBITED
Outdoor burning is prohibited in Lower Paxton Township. Burning of refuse and recyclable items, including leaf waste, is a violation of PA DEP Act 101 and Lower Paxton Township Ordinance 06-01.
The Codes Enforcement Officer is authorized to investigate all complaints made concerning the failure to comply with the provisions of Ordinance Nos. 931 and 935, which govern all aspects of recycling and solid waste collection in Lower Paxton Township.
From the time of placement at the curb, all containers of recyclable materials become the property of Waste Management. It shall be a violation of Township ordinances and regulations for any person(s) not authorized by the Township to collect, pick-up, transport, or dispose of or cause to be collected or picked-up, any such recyclable material.
Hazardous waste shall not be put out for collection by Waste Management. Also, dirt and rocks will not be collected.
