[ARCHIVED] Past President Edward Hine of Colonial Park Passes Away Due to COVID

President Hine 2

Edward Hine served over 55 years with the Colonial Park Fire Company...

The Colonial Park Fire Company regrets to announce the second COVID-related death of Past President Edward F. Hine on December 16th, 2020. President Hine joined the Colonial Park Fire Company on September 1st, 1966 at 25 years old and dedicated the majority of his life to our organization. In all, President Hine donated 55 very active years to the Colonial Park Fire Company in various administrative and educational roles.

President Hine enjoyed the social environment that the firehouse provided with friends and family. Ed was instrumental in making the fire prevention and education program into the success it has been now for several decades in Colonial Park and throughout Lower Paxton Township. Ed was the sitting President of the Colonial Park Fire Company for 17 years from 1970 until 1987 taking care of the regular company business for almost two decades. After retirement as President, Ed continued to serve in roles for committees including the Public Education and Banquet committees.

Ed Hine’s life revolved around service unto others. Ed retired as a school shop teacher where for decades he assisted kids learning vital trade skills, he volunteered with the American Legion regularly, and he dedicated weekly time at the firehouse handling day-to-day administrative business while enjoying coffee with the firehouse family.

The last week has been extremely difficult for the Colonial Park Fire Company, losing two icons of the firehouse and local fire service less than a week apart. In total, the Colonial Park Fire Company lost over 120 years of dedication, service, and experience. Please keep Ed’s wife Katysue, his friends and family, and his extended firehouse family in your thoughts and prayers into the new year as they deal with the loss of two very special men who were best of friends
