Grant funds help to secure 50 new airpacks for volunteer fire companies in Lower Paxton Township
This week the Colonial Park Fire Company was awarded a FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) from the 2019 application cycle! It was submitted as a regional grant to replace aging breathing apparatus for Linglestown Fire Company No. 1 - Station 35 and Colonial Park Fire Co., together, totaling 50 airpacks. The total package submitted included a cost of $328,000. With the AFG grant, the new airpacks will only cost the fire companies $29,800 in company money with the rest ($298,000) coming from FEMA.
This is a highly competitive grant program across the country! The Township was instrumental in assisting the fire departments by hiring a grant writer to assist with the process and each of the companies worked diligently to compile information for the grant application. This totals over $700,000 in grant funding received for the three fire companies!
Congratulations to Colonial Park Fire Co. & Linglestown Fire Co.!
