Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

A public meeting to discuss the Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan for FY 2025 will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 in the Township Municipal Center

About the Township's CDBG program

After the 2020 U.S. Census determined Lower Paxton Township has more than 50,000 residents, the Township became eligible to receive funds directly through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to support projects that benefit disadvantaged communities.

The CDBG program is funded through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and supported projects must meet at least one of three broad national objectives:

  • Benefit low‐ and moderate‐income persons.
  • Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight.
  • Meet community development needs having a particular urgency.

Following two publicly advertised meetings, on March 5, 2024, the Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors approved an overall CDBG plan for 2023 through 2027 and the 2023 Annual Action Plan (for the 2023 fiscal year).

Lower Paxton expects to receive $222,129 a year through 2027.

The following four overarching objectives will guide the Township’s CDBG-funded activities and programs:

  • Improve Public Facilities and Infrastructure
  • Provide Public Services
  • Economic Development
  • Planning and Administration
