Geocaching
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is like a real-life treasure hunt! Using your smartphone or any GPS-enabled device, you’ll search for hidden containers called “caches.” They’re tucked away all over the world — and now right here in Lower Paxton Township parks.
Some caches are small, others are larger and hidden in plain sight. A few are simple to find, while others require solving a puzzle or entering a code. Each discovery is a new adventure.
Join Geocaching in Lower Paxton:
- Visit Geocaching.com to register a username -- the basic membership is free.
- Download the Geocaching app to your smartphone.
- Open Geocaching app & navigate to one of the VisitLPT caches near you.
- There you will find the coordinates to locate one of the 12 hidden caches on our VisitLPT Park Tour passport.
- Record each find on Geocaching.com.
- And when you find a cache, write the secret code on your VisitLPT Park Tour Passport downloadable pdf or submit all 12 secret cache codes at once using the online passport form.
- Return each cache to the same spot you found it so the game can continue.
Once you've found your first cache, you can earn a digital pathtag using this online form.
