Meet Ginny Streckewald
Ginny Streckewald is a Fabric Artist, Quilter and paints with the Paxtang Art Association. She is also currently a member of the African American Quilters Guild of Harrisburg and incorporates her batik work into quilts and wall hanging, as well as sharing the batik process with her fellow quilters. A life-long educator, Ginny built upon her original BA in Fine Arts to certify as an Art Educator, Early Childhood/Elementary Teacher and Early Interventionist. She has taught Preschool and Kindergarten students in New York, Massachusetts, South Carolina and Pennsylvania and served as an adjunct instructor in Early Childhood Education at Harrisburg Community College. Prior to her retirement, she presented workshops at regional, state and national conferences on Creativity and the importance of the Arts in expanding STEM thinking skills in her role as the Early Childhood Subject Matter Expert for Childcraft Education.
Now retired, Ginny enjoys creating artwork for her three wonderful children and their families and exploring art with her six fabulous grandchildren. She travels often with her husband of fifty years and is often inspired by the varied and incredible beauty of our county. If it is her turn to drive, chances are the Streckewald’s car will be stopping at a local fabric shop.
Meet Heather Zimmerman
Heather was born in Oceanside, California but currently resides near Hershey, Pennsylvania. She has a master’s degree in applied behavioral analysis and a master life coach certification. Heather is passionate about psychology and sociology; how the brain works and why people do what they do. With that in mind, she tends to be attracted to the darker side of life and is fascinated by horror, true crime, and brain function. On the other hand, she has a lighter side; using energy, chakras, and other spiritual subjects that show up in her art as well. She also enjoys painting abstract pours and blooms.
She started her art career making charcoal drawings that revolve around the dark and mysterious. She dabbles in various forms of art and even had a poem published online while still in high school! Heather also enjoys using colored pencils and pastels to add some color to her collection of drawings. Lately, she has been creating acrylic art on canvas using a wide variety of themes.
Heather was a photographer’s mate in the Navy as one of her favorite hobbies is photography. She has sold some of her photographs in the past but mostly she uses them to create colorful, abstract art. Her major art influences include Salvador Dali, Lora Zombie, Ralph Steadman, John-Michel Basquiat, Pablo Picasso, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Vincent Van Gogh to name a few.
